The Discovery Federation share a Governing body who meet regularly as a whole Governing body and as two committees; Learning and Environment (L & E) and People, Planning and Development (PPD) committees, and subsequently as a Full Governing Body (FGB).

The overall purpose of the Governing Body is:

  • To raise standards of achievement for all children within the Federation.
  • To provide overall strategic direction for the Federation, working alongside the Leadership Team.
  • To act as a critical friend to the Executive Headteacher and Leadership Team, and to ensure accountability for the performance of the schools within the Federation to stakeholders.

A decision was taken by Governors on 6th February 2018 to dissolve the Discovery Federation by the end of the academic year.  The Local Authority will be working with the Governing Body to establish new governance arrangements for each of the schools that formed part of the federation in time for the start of the new school year.

The Chair of The Discovery Federation Governing Body is Mr Matthew Main.
