Welcome to Da Vinci Class
Here you will find out important information about our class. You will also be able to view our home learning sheets for each half term and view photos of us learning and having fun.
The Da Vinci team consists of Miss Foyle, Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Lloyd. Please feel free to come and see us after school if you have any questions or concerns.
We have an exciting year of learning ahead so keep checking back for further information, photos and updates.
Thank you for your continued support!
We highly encourage and support parents to read with their children at home as this not only helps to develop their reading skills but their enjoyment and pleasure for reading too. Therefore, children who read 5 times or more at home over the course of the week are entered into a raffle with the winner being able to choose and keep a book. If you read with your child at home, simply record it in their home school diaries. Thank you for your support.
Library day: Monday.
Banded book change: Friday.
Key words are words that children have to be able to read from sight, they can not sound them out. For example; was, there, put. Every half term we test children on their key words and then have a key word assembly to celebrate their achievements. Once children know all 400 key words, they can take on the beyond 400 challenge. The next key word assembly will take place on Tuesday 11th July. We encourage parents to help their child by practising key words at home. Thank you for your support.
PE (Summer 2)
This half term we will be doing outdoor PE every Tuesday afternoon where we will be learning tennis skills. We will also be doing outdoor PE every Wednesday afternoon where we will be doing rounders. Please ensure your child has a full PE kit in school at all times so that they can take part in every lesson. Children will need a change of shoes for PE, either trainers or plimsoles. Thank you.
Forest School (Summer 2)
Forest School is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn outdoors, developing new skills and gaining invaluable experiences. We are very lucky to be taking part in Forest School on alternate Mondays.
Forest School dates for this half term are;
Monday 12th June
Wednesday 21st June (all of year one for the whole morning)
Monday 17th July
Please ensure your child has a change of clothes and a pair of wellies so that they can take part in every exciting session. As the weather is getting warmer, children may not need to wear the waterproof jackets provided by the school. Therefore, please ensure they wear a long sleeve to protect their arms. If they wish, children may wear their Forest School clothes to school and bring their school clothes in a named bag.

Our school trip to Marwell Zoo.
On Wednesday 7th June, year one had a very exciting day as they went to Marwell Zoo. We were very lucky with the weather as it stayed dry and sunny for the whole day and it wasn't too hot either. We had an amazing day seeing all the animals and learning lots of interesting facts about them. Our favourite animals were the Giraffes, Penguins and Tigers. We are going to use what we have learnt to write fact files about these animals. Click on the link below to see a selection of photos from our trip.
As part of our topic, 'All About Me', we have been learning about healthy eating. We have found out all about the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet and ensuring that you eat a variety of fruit and vegetables. To support our learning, we had great fun preparing and tasting a healthy fruit skewer made up of various, colourful fruit. Click on the link below to view photos of us preparing and tasting our fruit skewers.
