PE and Sport at Endeavour
Learning in Physical Education is underpinned by our Anchor Values and the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum/Early Years Foundation Stage.
From our curriculum, pupils will become physically educated though experiencing a range of activity areas that:
• develop courage and display respect for the body
• build confidence to take part in physical activity
•develop competence in a range of physical skills
• challenge through a range of opportunities to take part in broad range of physical activity
• develop communication and collaboration between pupils.
At Endeavour Primary School, our vision for Physical Education is that every child should have the opportunity to develop the physical confidence and skills to enjoy being active. We hope this will lead to our children aspiring to live a life-long passion of being physically active.
A broad and balanced Physical Education Curriculum is intended to provide for children’s increasing self-confidence, whilst providing appropriate challenge for all. At the core of our teaching and learning is the importance of children developing their skills and ability to manage themselves and their bodies within a variety of movement situations.
We also strive to give children the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive sports during their school life. Giving them the prospect of understanding what competition feels like, what it is like to be part of a team and to be able to both win and lose with equal grace whilst showing respect and nobleness.
It is also important that our children become confident leaders and therefore we pride ourselves in our ‘Learn to Lead’ opportunities. Developing children’s leadership gives them the understanding of what it is like to have responsibility and to show respect for rules whilst bringing the added challenge of communication and teamwork.
These opportunities and prospects give our children the skills, knowledge and self-belief to change their world.

P.E and Sports Festival Week 2021
This week celebrated the important role of Physical Education and school sport in enhancing young people’s wellbeing. After a year in which our children have missed out on so much and had their worlds turned upside down, sport and physical activity are playing an essential role in their recovery. Sports Festival Week 2021 celebrated the return of children’s sport and its power to bring people back together with a week of celebrating sporting activity, team games and simply being active!
Each day of the week had a theme in line with National Sports Week:
o Monday – Leadership
o Tuesday – Competition
o Wednesday – Well Being
o Thursday – Cultural
o Friday – Physical Activity

PE during the school closure 2021
We have always competed in the School Games competitions, and have hosted some events here at Endeavour. Whilst we cannot physically be together, we can still participate as a school in these daily virtual challenges.
Click the link below (home learning opportunities) to find the daily Hampshire PE challenges that all children at Endeavour have been set. These will be updated weekly. Children will also be able to find these on their Google Classroom/Tapestry account.
In addition to the Hampshire PE challenges, it has been great to see so many children engaging with Jo Wicks workouts and Stormbreak activities.
Don't forget to send your teacher your scores or videos/photos of you taking part. We love to see you being active and keeping fit at home.
Photos coming soon!

Endeavour achieves Certificate of Achievement award!
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
Due to a number of factors YST decided to suspend School Games Mark for this year (2019-2020). However we are delighted to announce that Endeavour Primary has been awarded the Youth Sport Trust (YST) Certificate of Recognition for on-going commitment and achievement in the School Games programme during the Autumn and Spring Terms.
We are very happy to have been recognised for our success!
In previous years we have been awarded The School Games Gold Sports Mark. The School Games Gold Mark and Certificate of Recognition Award provides recognition of our commitment to providing excellent sporting opportunities for our pupils. Pancake Day Races, Skills4Life Festivals, Play Maker programmes, #HSGDaily Challenges and many more opportunities have all contributed to this. We have certainly demonstrated that we deliver and provide a wide range of PE and sport. Throughout the year, many of our pupils have competed in local inter- school and intra-school competitions and we are extremely proud of them for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.
A special thanks to the parents for encouraging children to lead healthy lifestyles and be as active as possible outside of school and finally to the children for all their enthusiasm. We look forward to applying once again next year!
