Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 at Endeavour Primary. In this year, your child will begin building the key foundations for learning across reading, writing, mathematics and wider curriculum areas. Our approach is designed to support children as they settle into school routines, develop confidence and grow independence day by day.

In English, children will practise early reading skills, expand vocabulary and develop writing through carefully planned activities. In mathematics, we focus on number sense, counting, place value and simple problem-solving, using practical resources and short, focused lessons. Throughout the year, we will also encourage curiosity through topics that connect learning to the world around them.

We understand that families play an important role in children’s progress. We will share clear guidance on what your child is learning and how you can help at home, including regular reading and opportunities to practise key skills.
