Year 2

Welcome to Year 2 at Endeavour Primary. In this stage, your child will continue to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and mathematics, while also developing confidence with everyday learning routines. We aim to create a calm, purposeful classroom where children feel supported, challenged appropriately, and proud of their progress.

In English, children will practise key skills such as spelling, handwriting, and writing sentences that make sense. Reading will focus on understanding texts, answering questions, and discussing ideas. In mathematics, we will strengthen number knowledge, including place value and addition and subtraction, and begin to apply these skills to solve problems in familiar and new contexts.

Alongside core learning, Year 2 supports children’s wider development through topics, practical activities, and opportunities to work together. We encourage positive attitudes to learning, including perseverance and careful listening. If you have any questions about what your child is doing in class, please speak with your child’s teacher—working together helps children make the best progress throughout the year.
