Year 5

Year 5 at Endeavour Primary is an exciting year of learning, growth and new responsibilities. In this stage, children build on the skills they developed in Year 4 while deepening their understanding across the curriculum. Our focus is on helping pupils become confident, independent learners who know how to ask questions, try new strategies and reflect on their progress.

In English, pupils strengthen reading comprehension and develop writing with clearer structure, richer vocabulary and increasing accuracy in spelling, punctuation and grammar. In maths, they continue to consolidate key concepts and apply them to solve problems, using reasoning skills to explain their thinking. Lessons also support wider learning through science, history, geography, computing, art, music and physical education, with opportunities to practise skills through practical activities and well-planned challenges.

We value strong partnerships with families and aim to keep you informed about what your child is learning and how you can support at home. Regular reading, practising key maths facts and discussing learning in everyday situations can make a real difference.
