Year 6

Year 6 at Endeavour Primary is an important year for both learning and preparation. Children build confidence in core subjects such as English, mathematics and science, while continuing to develop strong reading habits, accurate writing skills and a secure understanding of number. Teachers plan engaging lessons that support pupils to practise key skills, think deeply and apply what they know in different contexts.

In addition to academic progress, Year 6 focuses on developing independence and readiness for transition. Pupils are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning, manage homework effectively and work collaboratively with others. Through a range of class activities and opportunities to lead, children develop resilience, confidence and the ability to reflect on their progress—skills that will support them as they move into secondary school.

We work closely with families to ensure pupils feel supported at home as well as in school. Parents can help by encouraging regular reading, discussing what children have learned and checking that homework is completed to the best of each child’s ability.
