Key information:
Home Learning:
In addition to the home learning sheets that will be sent home at the beginning of a new project, children are encouraged to read and practise their spellings and timetables at home.
All home learning must be handed in by Friday 1st April 2022
Reading
Please read with your child as often as possible at home and record in their home school book which is checked daily. Each class has their own reading race where for every day a child reads at home they move their name up the chart. When a child has read 4 times or more over the week they are entered into a raffle to win a prize at the end of each half term. All children are encouraged to take part in our school wide reading challenge, which can be completed over the whole school year and can be found on the website.
Spelling
Children will receive a weekly list of spellings to learn at home. These will be sent home every Friday and then checked in school the following Friday.
PE:
Kirk Campus - Monday (Handball) and Tuesday (Gymnastics)
King Campus - Monday (Gymnastics) and Tuesday (Handball)
We will be continuing with the daily run, so please ensure that your child has suitable footwear to participate every day. PE kits will be sent home on a Friday to be washed and returned on Monday
Please do speak to us if you have any queries or concerns. It can be a little tricky to speak on the door so it is advisable to write a note in your child’s home school diary or book an appointment with your child's class teacher though the school email address: adminoffice@endeavour.hants.sch.uk.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to an exciting year ahead!
The Year 4 Team
Our New Project: Food For Thought
In this project, children will have the opportunity to put their geography field work skills to good use on their visit to Rotherfield Farm, as they consider where our food comes from. Children will get the opportunity to learn about how to rear and look after animals as well as creating their own farm maps. Children will then consider the science behind classifying and grouping living things. They will also investigate the impact that both positive and negative changes to the environment has on habitat and survival of animals. In English, children will learn to persuade the public to donate to food banks and produce a non-chronological report on Food Poverty in the UK. They will explore the causes of famine and produce a class assembly to inform parents of what they have learnt.
Stubbington Discovery Centre
Kirk Campus (28.02.2022-02.02.2022)
King Campus (02.02.2022 - 04.02.2022)
Year 4 Children at Endeavour had the exciting opportunity to visit Stubbington Residential Centre early in the term. Whilst the children were away , they got to focus upon improving their teamwork skills and increase their independence. All of the children were very proud of their rooms and kept them incredibly tidy ahead of inspection! Every single day was full of exciting and engaging activities such as Earthquake and Shelter Building and every single child earned a good rest at the weekend.
