Stubbington 2025

It's our final day! We've enjoyed another hearty breakfast and have packed our bags ready to go. 🙁 We are so impressed with how organised and ready your children are. The final room inspection are done and the winning team was...BADGERS!!

We're off to our first activity of the day.

Take a look at the areas we'll be learning and playing in this morning. Photos of us to follow.

Scenery of the area

Art work at the Glen

Thursday 28th March

What happens to the left over food?

We scrape any leftovers from our plates (but there's not much!) into the dining room bin. Then the food is put out for the badgers and foxes to eat. We took some great photos of a fox eating our leftovers.

Thursday 27th March - End of Day

The evening was filled with fun where the children had to find pirates that were hiding in the grounds. One of them had stolen treasure so the children had to work out who didn’t have an alibi. They successfully found all the hiding pirates and worked out who stole it!

Children all settled quickly after a long and energetic day.

Thursday 27th March

This afternoon we played a game where we used coordinates to find our way around the whole of the Stubbington site! We worked in groups of 3 to find a series of plastic pigeons with game instructions attached to their bodies. We read the instructions and moved our counters along migration game track. We worked relentlessly running from site to site searching for pigeons - surely we'll sleep well tonight!!

This afternoon Anning took on the extreme challenge. They had to work together to work out how to best protect the egg. They had to earn their tokens in some team building challenges in order to buy the materials. There was 5 teams but only 3 eggs survived!

TUCK SHOP VISIT!!

We visited the tuck shop!  There was huge excitement after lunch as the children had a chance to buy sweets and souvenirs. All our children used exceptional manners and loved sharing what they bought with their teachers and friends.

Thursday 27th March

Elton John Class took part in the 'Eggstreme' challenge this morning.

We started day 2 with some team building challenges where the focus was to discuss, share and plan ideas on how to solve team building problems. We then used these skills to work in smaller teams to solve multiple team challenges, such as using equipment to transport 'radioactive' chemicals, the magic carpet which involved all members standing on a  sheet and having to turn it over without standing on the grass. then we designed packages to protect our eggs which we launches from a catapult. 4 out of 6 teams survived.

Thursday 27th March

This morning Anning have learnt about migration paring up and exploring the grounds using 4 figure grid refence to find the missing birds.

Day 2 - Free time

Thursday 27th March

We've used clay, sticks and leaf matter to make tree guardians then we devised origin stories. Check out the photos of us making our guardians later today.

Last night we crept into the badger hide and we stood and waited to see if we could see some badgers leaving their setts. We were really lucky, not only did we see some badgers but the first cubs of the season too - what an exciting experience.

Look out for updates from the work we are doing in our Stubbington classrooms. we are looking forward to a day of art, learning in the conservation area, orienteering, and exploring teamwork in the outdoors challenge areas.

Children and staff are looking forward to a game of chess later today.

Day 1

Wednesday 26th March - Update from Elton John Class

Elton John- we started our day with a snack and drink before some outside art inspired by a famous artist. We used the colours of nature around us to create a tonal rainbow scale. We were then inspired by the artist to create our own art using natural resources. We spent a bit of time unpacking before meeting to find out about our stay and meeting the staff. We enjoyed some free play outside at the adventure park and playing football. Before we knew it, it was time for our evening meal. After eating, we had a short break before spending some time with a local wildlife photographer. The photos were incredible. We ended our first day with supper before some downtime before bed. Children (and staff!) are ready for a goodnight sleep before day 2.

Wednesday 26th March - Update from JK Rowling Class group

In the morning we completed the earthquake challenge where children were asked to transport supplies from one end of the course to the other. This involved climbing over obstacles, crawling underneath obstacles and even jumping over a pool of lava. The children also got to enter the Badger hides where they viewed foxes darting in and out of the wilderness. Hopefully we get to see some more tomorrow!!
